Previously known as Cardinal Carpets, Cardinal Flooring Specialists has been in business for 14 years as a stockist, retailer and specialist installer of floor covering materials.

Cardinal recently opened a new showroom at 19 Loop Street in the Cape Town CDB, where the full range of carpets, custom-made rugs, coir, sisal and cork flooring, solid wood and laminates, under floor heating and accessories are on display. This is the fourth Cardinal outlet in the Cape area, with others well established in the Tygerberg, Boland and Overberg districts. Cardinal aims to open more branches throughout the Western Cape to further enhance customer satisfaction through improved and positive representation in strategic locations.

Cardinal’s track record in installing South African brand name carpets, vinyl flooring, solid wood floors, a variety of quality laminate floorings and Warmup floor heating systems, is well known. It is interesting to note the recent increased demand for custom-made woollen rugs, timber floors and cork flooring. The custom-made rugs are handmade and clients can either choose from a detailed, extensive catalogue, or have their own pattern, pictures or designs depicted to order.

Coir and sisal carpets and area rugs are very popular in the Western Cape, which is why Cardinal has invested in its own overlocking and binding machines, which means that borders in any material or colour to match the clients’ furniture or décor requirements can now be provided. To meet the current increasing demand for cork floors, Cardinal installs cork tiles in a similar fashion to vinyl, using a quality contact adhesive, but also carries a range of cork tiles mounted on a high density core board (similar to that used for laminated floor coverings). Either of these will provide a floor that is environmentally friendly, durable, good looking, with a high degree of insulation.
